Members of the Club who wish to run for a position in the Management Committee must complete and submit:

What is the Management Committee? 

The Management Committee is elected into office annually and plays an important role in the decision-making of the club. It has the authority to exercise the powers and functions of the club and to manage its affairs.

Members interested in running for the Management Committee are encouraged to make use of the nomination period to: 

  • Find out more about the Club
  • Find out more about the general objectives of respective positions
  • Prepare the nomination form and nominee declaration form

What do I need to submit on nomination days?

Members of the Club who wish to run for a position in the Management Committee must complete and submit:

Members of the Union who wish to run for NUSSU Exco Rep must complete and submit the following document:

  • 46th Exco Representative Nomination Form 

Where do I submit the forms?

All forms must be submitted to the Elections Committee via email nuscsc.elections@u.nus.edu

Nominators are required to be active members. Who are active members?

Active members include contributing members of:

  • The 22nd Management Committee
  • Regular Volunteering Programme Committees in Academic Year 2023/2024
  • Exploratory Programme Committees in Academic Year 2023/2024
  • Organizing Committees of Special Projects organized in Academic Year 2023/2024

At least one of the Nominator/ Seconder has to be a member of the 22nd Management Committee

The Elections Committee reserves the right to deny eligibility of nominators.

Are nominators required to be present for the election?

No. Nominators may present themselves but it is not compulsory.

ELECTORAL INTERVIEW

What is the interview for?

The Electoral Interview allows Election Officers to assess potential candidates' eligibility for the elections and thereafter, provide any necessary information to the candidates.


*NUSSU Exco Rep candidates are not required to undergo an electoral interview 

When will I know my schedule for the interview?

The Elections Interview Board will keep you informed about your interview schedule via email within 48 hours after receiving your nomination forms.

When will I know my result for the interview and if my application is successful?

You will be informed via email within 48 hours after attending the interview.

ELECTION DAYS

Who is eligible to vote on Election Days?

To be eligible to vote for a Management Committee position, you must fulfill all of these requirements:

  • You must be a member of the Club, which means you must be a registered member under NUS Students' Community Service Club on NUSync.
  • You must attend the election procedures briefing conducted at the beginning of each election day (or at suitable intervals as determined by the Elections Committee).
  • You must be present for the entire duration of the speech(es) and Q&A(s) by the candidate(s) running for that particular position.

How should I dress for Election Days?

Please be in smart casual attire. Polo tee is allowed.

 Who can run for the Presidential Role Member? 

Candidates running for positions of President, Vice President (Regular Programmes), Vice President (Special Projects) and/or Vice President (Exploratory Programmes) shall be required to meet the following criterion: 


(a) Be either a member of the Management Committee, a Regular Volunteering Programme Committee, Special Project Committee or a Exploratory Programme Committee in the previous Academic Year.


(b) Except if the Management Committee in the previous AY votes, with no less than two-thirds in favour, for a candidate to be able to be granted exception to Criterion (a) and for the positions of President, Vice President (Regular Programmes) and/or Vice President (Special Projects) and/or Vice President (Exploratory Programmes)


If I am running for a position in the Management Committee, what will I do on Election Days?

Candidates running for the positions of President, Vice-President (Regular Programmes), Vice-President (Special Projects) and Vice-President (Exploratory Programmes) will have 30 minutes to present their speech and 30 minutes of Q&A. For each candidate, the time for Q&A may be extended up to 2 times by the members in attendance.


Candidates running for other Management Committee positions will have 20 minutes to present their speech and 15 minutes of Q&A. For each candidate, the time for Q&A may be extended up to 2 times by the members in attendance.


After all the candidates running for a particular position has presented and had their Q&A, the members in attendance will cast their vote for that position. In the event that none of the candidates secured a majority of votes, all the candidates have to re-present themselves for no more than 5 minutes, followed by Q&A for no more than 10 minutes. A second round of voting will be held.


If I am running for a position in the Management Committee, must I attend both Election Days?

Yes.

If I am not running for any positions in the Management Committee, must I attend both Election Days?

No, attendance is optional. You may enter or leave at any time. However, if a candidate is speaking or if votes are being cast or counted, please refrain from doing so to avoid any interruptions.
