HEAR FROM OUR VOLUNTEERS

Whether being a volunteer or in the committee, I think almost all of us can attest to how much we have gotten from THES. On paper, weekly visits are for the benefit of the elderly and to keep them company, but I like to see it as them giving so much more back to us through their time, wisdom and conversations. The lasting friendships with fellow volunteers and elderly alike are some of the rare few in college I am sure will last beyond graduation.

- Daniel, AY21/22 External Chairperson
When I first joined THES, I never knew that I will be joining a vibrant and close-knitted community of volunteers who are all equally passionate as me to make a difference to the beneficiaries life. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the elderly at Geylang Bahru and even more so for the friendship forged there that makes me want to contribute even more to the community and the volunteers.

- Jia Yi, AY21/22 Internal Chairperson
Volunteering with T.H.E.S. has provided me with such an enriching and fulfilling experience. I look forward to meeting both the elderly and fellow volunteerings every week! It is really heartwarming to see the elderly recognise me as I visit more often and I hope that with each visit, I managed to have made their Sunday morning more fun and vibrant in these trying COVID19 times. The vibes in T.H.E.S. is really wholesome and friendly and everyone looks out and is friendly towards each other. Waking up on Saturday morning has never felt so good! 💫

- Min Xian, Volunteer
I have been volunteering with T.H.E Seniors since Year 1 and I have to say this is such a fulfilling experience that I have never once regretted coming for the visits and events. It has made my Saturday meaningful every week when I get to meet different seniors and help them with their needs. The volunteers there are also really friendly and I look forward to the regular visits every week!

- Si Qiang, AY21/22 Volunteer Management Head
I have been volunteering with T.H.E.S. since Year 1 and I must say that this community has given me many fond and heart-warming memories over the years – be it with fellow like-minded volunteers or our adorable elderly. In particular, reaching out to the vulnerable elderly amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis has been an eye-opening and meaningful experience for me. My experience with T.H.E.S. is easily one of my best takeaways from my time in NUS!

- Ru Wei, AY21/22 Publicity Head
